Melinda has been in the beauty industry for more than 26 years.
Her training has been extensive including make-up training by the renowned international make-up artist John Gustofen. (from TV's Looking Good and Style Challenge)
Bridal & Special Occasion make-up being her specialty.

One of Melinda’s motivations for working in the beauty business was the flexibility; she says she was able to work around her family commitments and be there for her sons when they were growing up. “ I always said that I never want to look back and say I missed anything and now that they are grown, I can happily say I succeeded” There aren’t many careers that you can have this kind of freedom, so I feel grateful that I’ve had the opportunities that I’ve had and be able to earn a living in a career I truly love”
Melinda has applied her trade in many areas, including Fashion, Photographic, Beauty Pageants, Face Painting and Special Occasion Make-up. She also keeps very busy with Bridal make-up. “It’s great to be part of such a special day, it’s a wonderful and satisfying feeling watching my brides look in the mirror and love what they see! And it’s kind of nice to think you are being immortalised in the wedding album.”
Melinda also runs
At MMD Studio Melinda teaches women of all ages how to create a individual look using easy skills and tips and tricks from her many years experience. “The lessons and workshops have evolved through demand really. After, many of my clients started asking me to teach them how to apply their own make-up. I teach one to one Make-up clinics or small groups of 3 or 4, where I walk you step by step through your skin care and make-up; this can take up to 3+ hours.” She also does corporate lessons, going into offices and businesses and teaching staff how to coordinated their make-up to their uniforms etc.. The Make-up Master Class workshops are great for people who want to gain lots of tips and skills, taught in a group, it is visual, not hands on, although you can always stay after and I’ll answer any personal questions”
When ask to share her secrets, Melinda says, “Looking your best doesn’t mean having to pile on makeup; it’s the art of choosing the products that suit your skin type, the most flattering shades & tones and the right techniques that make the difference” And of course practice makes perfect. Many women are stuck in a time warp, mainly because they don’t find the time to experiment”
Melinda believes that skin care and make-up should be taught from an early age. She says, "Many women don't have the basic skills to pass onto their children because their own mothers didn't have the knowledge to pass it on to them, and the chain continues. Skin care especially, is vital to learn even as early as 11, especially as young girls today are using make-up much earlier." I teach girls to understand the importance of looking after their skin and how to apply their make-up to look trendy, yet clean and fresh"
Melinda believes that every women has the ability to look her best, no matter what her age. She has a special interest in skin care and make-up for the mature woman, or as she likes to say “women at a more interesting age” She believes that maturing should be seen as adding character to your look and personality. “I can teach women how to bounce light away from the parts of their face that they don’t want to focus on and accent the areas she wants to stand out. .With quite simple skills and knowledge everyone can learn to Look their Best” “Some of my loveliest clients are in their 80’s”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for doing what we can to slow down Mother Nature! There are some amazing anti-aging products on the market today can actually make a big difference.
